but there's a side to you i never knew
my hands they're strong, but my knees were far too weak,
to stand in your arms without falling to your feet, all the
things you'd say, they were never true,

Lucy's feet thumped hard against the ground; crushing twigs and sending small animals scurrying away from her. Birds chirped loudly overhead as she ran passed annoyed at being disturbed. Her breath ripped out from her lungs but she continued on not yet willing to give in to the pain that was forming in her tired legs. Running through the edges of the dense forest that ran along the back of her apartment was her greatest escape as it allowed her to clear her mind of all the thoughts that constantly raced around her head. She was so easily distracted by her dreamworld that she often needed an escape to try and focus her mind back on something constructive. Without realising she was doing it her mind began to drift back off her target and back onto her aching heart. Being tied to both the Death Eaters and Revolutionary's really wore on her nerves and being an auror wasn't easy either. She had broken up with Donnie and bedded Reg within a few days.
Slowly she was beginning to feel that her own personality was ebbing away and she was left with a hollow shell of the girl she used to be. Her moment of distraction was enough to cause her to trip up over a loose root. She went down like a ton of bricks bursting her knee open and hurting her wrist. Lucy was not one for cursing and swearing but she was sure close to it. She wiped the blood from her knee; that would remind her in future never to wear tiny denim shorts when out running in future. Instead of holding her temper she let it go and stormed out of the outskirts of the forest and apparating back to her home.
Padding into her kitchen she turned on the taps and jumped up onto the counter so that she could clean the cuts on her knees. Her long auburn hair fell over her shoulders as she dabbed the open wounds. Luce still had no idea why she had the sudden urge to run but the exercise had done her good and it made her feel human to have her heart beating wildly in her chest and her lungs desperately seeking oxygen. Luce knew that she had plans for that evening but she had wanted to stay in and read a book but now she was all set to go out and get ridiculously drunk with Natasha. Luce jumped down from the counter and headed for a shower.
Once squeaky clean she did a quick dry spell on her hair and was rudely interupted by the sounding of her doorbell going. Giving a quick glance to the clock on her bedside table she realised that Natasha was her usual early self and she groaned inwardly. There was no way in hell she was going to be ready anytime soon which would probably grate on her friend's nerves. She stomped, like a child, still wrapped in her towel to her front door, swung it open and stalked back to her bedroom. "You should have learned by now to just come in, you know i'm never ready for the time you say."
