The weather in London is always so lovely, isn't it? Teddy thinks so. He had always cherished the somewhat bleak weather they had there year round. Never too hot, never too cold. Just a lot of clouds and the occasional rain shower. Today was just a very pale and mild day, filled with clouds and cool breezes. These were the days that Teddy thrived on. On top of that he was meeting Deja up at his favorite cafe in Diagon Alley. He had arrived only a few minutes ago, copy of the Daily Prophet tucked under his arm. It would be stupid for Teddy to not keep up on the news of what's going on lately, what with how things were going on lately, death eaters on the rise once more. Who knew what would be going on in the wizarding world. Without much ado he took a seat at a booth in the little cafe. After a few minutes a waitress came by for his order but politely asked her to return in a bit when the rest of his party had arrived. Teddy was a bit..excited about meeting up with Deja. They hadn't had contact with each other in a while, not due to bad blood, just things had gotten busy at work for Teddy. He figured they did for Deja as well. Who knows with her really, though? Beginning to get bored, Teddy started fidgeting. Rustling his hair, popping his knuckles, adjusting his shoulders under the restraint of his signature leather jacket. She wouldn't stand him up, would she? From all he could recall Teddy had never given her a reason to have any ill will towards him right? Right? Teddy's eyes searched the cafe for a clock and when he found one he gave a sigh of relief. Deja wasn't even late, he was just ten minutes early. “Silly Lupin,” he sighed under his breath. Moments like these were the times where his elders told him he reminded them of his father. Always the worry wart. Teddy flipped open the bent up edition of the Daily Prophet and skimmed the headlines. Same ol' same ol'. [/blockquote] tag: deja word count: that many, x; sry bb. notes: teddy is so qt. A sigh escaped her lips as Deja rolled out of her bed, reluctantly prying herself away from the confines of its warmth. Her green eyes were met with those of the clouds prowling around outside her window. Though normally one would hate this bleak weather, she welcomed it with open arms. She had never been a 'flowers and sunshine' kind of girl and rather disliked the sunshine. It was too bright for her, much too bright for her eyes to adjust to without getting burnt in the process. Mainly why she was glad she lived in London, the weather was always so rainy, such a downer to tourists who weren't around much, but she couldn't help but love it. The plus side to being an ex-Slytherin, she assumed. How she was used to roaming around in the darkness, the dungeons having been her source of comfort. She had never understood the happiness everyone held onto so dearly, the smiles everyone so casually tossed towards one another as if it would bring them closer to achieving a common goal. Pushing the thoughts to the back of her mind, she stretched, cracking the kinks out of her neck. She knew full and well where that train of thought would lead her and she had no intention of following. Not that she wasn't used to thoughts of the indecency of human life, but with a glance towards the clock, she realized she didn't have much time to dawdle.
Her meeting with Teddy was fast approaching and she had to quicken the pace if she wanted to arrive on time. Swinging her legs to the other side of her bed, she stood, a slight shiver passing through her spine at the coldness the floor offered her. She padded towards the full length mirror to her right, examining her appearance as she ran a comb through her hair. Though she wasn't one for socializing much, she was rather excited at the prospect of meeting with Teddy. It had been such a long time since they'd seen one another, both wrapped up in the confines that work brought, and she knew that at least he could bring some sunshine to her day, rebelling against the dark weather London held this time of year. Upon perfecting her make-up, she brought her face closer to the mirror, examining any blemishes that might've appeared over night. Luckily, no such occurence had happened and a small smile wrapped itself around her features. With a glance towards the clock once more, she hastened at seeing she had about ten minutes before Teddy would start anxiously worrying about whether or not she stood him up. Just like his father, he worried more so than anyone she had ever met, though she found it to be somewhat adorable. Hitching her bag over her shoulder, she made her way out of her flat, enjoying the slight breeze that had picked up.
Deja decided against apparating, prefering to walk to her destination for it wasn't too far from her flat. As she crossed the street, her heels clicked against the concrete, her movements graceful as always. Her dark hair whipped in the wind as she continued walking, taking in the sights around her. How lovely it was this time of year. Confusion washed over her as she realized how uncharacteristically optimistic she was being this morning and pushed it aside, placing the notion that Teddy was the cause. He was a rather gentle man and brought a smile or two out of her more than any other, besides Reginald of course. Rifling through her bag, she grabbed a smoke as well as a lighter before sparking her cigarette up and throwing the contents in her bag. Taking a drag, she realized she was nearing the spot Teddy said to meet at and a smirk cracked at the edges of her lips as she recognized a familiar head of brown hair. She could tell just from the back of his neck that he was anxiously awaiting her arrival, his eyes fixated on the Daily Prophet before him in an attempt to distract his mind from worrying. As was her style, instead of greeting him outright, she took a seat across from him, placing her bag beside her on the chair. Her cigarette hung loosely between her index finger and middle finger as she took another drag, a small smile reaching her lips as her striking eyes charted his every move. "Glad to see you look well." She remarked, her tone less chilling than usual. She guessed Teddy brought out the goodness in her, or some other similar cliche like that.

Teddy looked up, a faint smile gracing his face. Deja had finally showed up. Finally, well okay, she had showed up right on time, Ted just had this ruddy tendency of worrying himself into a coma. The sight of her spread relief all through him. In these dangerous times though, how could one not worry about their friends? No one was guaranteed safety with all this death eater mayhem that had been occurring lately, not even the death eaters. All you could really do is watch what you do and hope that a familiar name doesn't wind up in the Daily Prophet. Teddy liked to think of his friends as quite intelligent and talented witches and wizards, Deja was no different.
'Glad to see you look well.' Her words only brightened his face even more. The familiar tones in her voice were a lovely harmony to his ears. It was a small compliment, really, but it made him feel nice nevertheless. “And you, of course are beautiful as ever, doll.” Teddy paused before bringing up what small talk they might have in store to take her in. The cigarette she was smoking only seemed to make her more attractive, for some silly reason that Teddy was having trouble placing, though that seemed to happen to him quite often with people.
There was so much to catch up on between the two. Stories to pass between the two from work and what have you. Teddy knew he sure had quite the tales to pass on to her, small talk, you know? Although he rather enjoyed telling stories he always despised having to be careful who he told what and when and where, hell even how. With these times Teddy was having quite the time trusting many of the people he once did, not even all of the Order had his full faith. Spies could be anyone and anywhere. Was Deja a spy? Or perhaps a full-fledged death eater even just merely keeping it underwraps? As far as he knew she was still somewhere in the middle ground. It wasn't where he was, but it was better than the alternative, he reasoned.
Few moments had passed before folded the Daily Prophet up carefully and set it on the seat to his side, giving Deja his full attention. “So, Deja, what's -” Right as Teddy started to speak a rather flighty looking waitress was standing near to their table, asking for a drink order. “Ah, yes. I'll just have a coffee, black.” Gesturing to Deja he waited for their exchange to end before picking up where he left off with her. “What's been new with you, darling? I trust all has been well?” Teddy wasn't even sure if their friendship was one of high importance to her. He could only hope, hope that if anything was taking a turn for the worse he would know. Teddy was a very good wizard, one of the best in his year he'd reckon and as an auror he was ready to protect any of his loved ones, anyone he cared about. That included Deja. A small smile wrapped itself around her features as she noticed the faint smile that graced Teddy's face. Just by seeing his eyes, she could see he had recently been worrying, though what about she had no exact idea. Most likely, however, it was about her. These days, it was hard not to worry about those you cared about, though for Deja, that was rather easy. She wasn't one to really care about anyone except herself and perhaps a few select others, Teddy, however, fell into said category. They had been friends for what felt like ages and she couldn't honestly say she could dismiss him so cruelly. Sure, she was known for her brass measures and insane tendencies to write off those who did not appease her, but Teddy held a soft place in her heart. He was one of the few she knew she could count on fully, one who would never abandon her no matter the trails of suffering. He would be there to the end and it was comforting to know that at least one person stood strong behind her, well besides Reginald. Her smile remained at the thought of the pair, both fighting for her, both on opposite sides of the spectrum. Teddy was obviously with the revolutionaries while Reginald was with the Death Eaters, which made picking a side even harder since she was undecided on the matter.
Pushing thoughts of this nature to the back of her mind, however, Deja took another drag, deciding now was not the time to ponder such things. She locked them away in her heart, knowing she'd analyze over them later. It was Teddy's time now and despite her cold nature, she would give him the time of day. He stood out amongst the others, he had that special something and she knew she'd always cherish it, no matter what her views. Noticing his face brighten at her words, her usual smirk took over the smile, glad that she had made him smile already. It felt like such a chore to make anyone happy, such a waste of time, but for some reason, she enjoyed seeing that smile wrap itself around Teddy's handsome features. He was meant to smile and him feeling anything on the contrary seemed unnecessary to her. His words struck her heart and she gave him a knowing smile, "Why thank you, love.
" She took another drag, knowing this conversation would lead to the usual small talk that happened after good friends hadn't seen each other in awhile. She knew he'd regale her in stories about his work and what he was up to and though normally this would exhaust her to the point of almost suicide, it was quite the contrary. He always had such interesting stories, especially since he was an Auror and so was on the tail of most Death Eaters day in and day out, which was why she feared for Reginald's safety at times. He was a smart, calculating man however and could take care of himself, so worrying was out of the question. The sound of a newspaper folding brought her out of her reverie and her green eyes striked towards Teddy, now not leaving his fragile frame. Right as he began to speak, though, a flighty waitress appeared beside them, questioning their order. Teddy ordered the usual, a coffee black, and she rolled her eyes jokingly at his manner of predictability before she looked towards the waitress and tossed her a smirk, " Cafe mocha." Her tone became cold, as it normally did when not speaking with someone she was familiar with and after ordering, her eyes found Teddy's once more, his voice pentrating her ears. " Oh, nothing really. Just been busy with work, as I'm sure is the case with you." Another knowing smirk was tossed in his direction before she continued, taking a final drag before putting her cigarette butt out on the floor, her heel crushing it almost to a fine grind. " It's as well as anyone could hope. And yourself?" An arch of an eyebrow followed this statement as she leaned back in her chair, becoming more comfortable, though it was rather hard since the seats were metallic and rather hard to sit on. She wasn't ready to complain, however, for that really wasn't her style. Besides, nobody liked a whiner. words! 724 status! complete tags! teds notes! awh don't worry about it, love <3 inspiration! the killers credits! template by arro @ caution! lyrics! Of course Teddy had been busy. It had been quite some time since he had been so occupied throughout the days. If he wasn't off and busy away somewhere tracking and care of people for the Ministry then he was busy doing work for the Order. To be honest, he was having trouble keeping the two separate lately. He's been worked to the point of absolute exhaustion. Yes, desperate times did call for desperate measures, but he had all but run himself ragged the past couple of weeks. A day off or two was something that he definitely needed and was relishing as of now. He felt as though as his body was running on empty, and he was sure it showed as well. Droopy eyes and his rustled hair, he was sure he couldn't possibly look any more ragged. Racking his brain, he tried to come up with some good stories to tell Deja. He had endless amounts of excursions that he could share with her, but none felt right for the situation at hand, or perhaps they were. Perhaps he had just forgotten the line where things go with Deja or perhaps he just didn't want to think of what he had done in the past couple of months. Though he figured not saying anything of work would look worse rather than a story or two he went on and began recounting the past month or two.
Truthfully, he didn't even know where to begin. He wasn't fancying anything too heavy for this lovely, afternoon meeting, however, in his line of work that was a hard line to draw, especially with Deja whom he didn't even know where her loyalties lied. Teddy had done his fair share of taking lives, and arresting those who truly deserved it. He was intricate in his work, he liked to think. He couldn't live with himself if for some reason he made a mistake and forced some poor child to grow up like he did without parents. Teddy ended up telling Deja of his short lived 'adventure' in Ireland. His department head had sent him off there to do a bit of looking around, getting a better feel for what the scene was like there as far as death eaters go, how many there were, where they were hiding, how large in numbers they seemed to be. Teddy had spent all of two weeks there the previous month. “...I was on the tail of one of these ruddy blokes right, then you wouldn't believe what happened to me!” He paused as the rather ditzy looking waitress returned with their drinks. Murmuring a quick 'thank you' to the woman he returned to his story, hoping his suspense hadn't been completely lost, “My polyjuice potion begins to fade! I never was too good at potions, but damn” Teddy chuckled and sipped his coffee. It was strong, just the way that he liked it, he wasn't into all of the frilly additions most preferred.
Teddy watched her intently as she took drags from her cigarette. He had forgotten just how beautiful Deja really was. They had been friends forever, and there was always a part, though sometimes miniscule, of him that longed, lusted, whatever, for her. Who could blame him though? How lovely of a life it would be to come home to her, that flawless, and remarkably talented witch. She was quite a catch and Teddy knew it. He knew just how lucky he was that she gave him the time of day, let alone her loyal friendship. Sometimes though, he just wondered if there could ever possibly be something more between them. Only time will tell though, he supposed.

Her eyes fell upon his form as she drank in his features. He looked very tired, worn out almost to the bone. She was sure he hadn't had a day off in months otherwise he would've sent her an owl sooner. Teddy was cute like that, always worrying about others and making sure that everyone was alright and happy before even thinking about his own wellfare. Though she wouldn't admit it, she worried about him at times, worried that he would work himself into a hole so deep, even he couldn't get out of it. He'd be stuck on the line for Merlin knows how long, wishing for a way out of this shamble and hoping that someday somebody would lift the burdens off his shoulders. But she knew he would never have a lack of responsibility for he always felt he was responsible for those around them, like it was his job to make sure that everyone stayed safe, though in a sense, it was. He was an Auror, after all, even she couldn't forget that. He just had that 'Auror-type' of personality and a small smile graced her face as her eyes caught his' once more. The dark circles that lined his eyes were only a reminder of the trials he faced every day, of the hardships he had to endure to make sure that the Wizarding World didn't fall to pieces, or to the Death Eaters for that matter. Her mind had been torn on the subject for as long as she could remember, especially since she had allies on both sides. High up allies, at that. Both were modestly high up in the food chain when it came to their alliance and both were counted upon to bring either the pain or the pleasure. Tucking a strand of stray hair behind her ear, she pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind once more, while knowing full well that no matter what she did, the thoughts would remain and overflow much like a dam built by a beaver.
Her thoughts had always been like that, so Deja had grown used to it. To the negativity, to the outright pessimistic voice her mind spoke in which then led to her cold voice. She was a Slytherin through and through no matter if she tried to change it, not that she wanted to change it, after all. Though she had always hated her peers as well as her house mates, she loved her house and everything it stood for. Not the darkness of it, but the fact that everyone in that house had to be cunning and clever, much like Ravenclaw but with an edge. Plus, Slytherin house suited her like no other, she almost chuckled at the thought of being an alumni Hufflepuff. Her reverie was broken by a familiar voice and she brought her attention back to Teddy, who started telling a story about a trip to Ireland he had had to go on to gain information about the Death Eaters. She already knew all about it, Reginald having told her the other day, though the Aurors still had no chance of catching them or at least, all of them. Most of the Death Eaters were too quick, always a step ahead of the Aurors, mainly due to the spies who resided among those in the Ministry day in and day out. They were certainly climbing in numbers, she noticed, though no one was close enough to catching a single one. She cut her thoughts short, though, upon hearing what she thought was the ending of Teddy's story, the ditzy waitress having interrupted them once again. Grabbing her drink, she didn't bother muttering a thank you since the waitress was gone almost as quickly as she arrived. Bringing the cup to her lips, she blew on the surface softly before sipping it cautiously, hoping she wouldn't burn her tongue in the process. Luck seemed to be on her side as she felt the hot drink slide down her throat, placing the drink down as her eyes met Teddy's once more. A chuckle escaped her lips as she heard the end of his tale, shaking her head in amusement. "If I had been there, that probably wouldn't of happened.
" She joked, taking another sip of her drink, remembering how she had had to help Teddy with some of his Potions coursework back in sixth year. What a riot that had been. The image of his blackened features from adding an ingredient too quickly was more than priceless. Grabbing another smoke, she sparked it up before throwing the contents back into her purse, smoke leaving her mouth in 'O's.' How she loved her cigarette tricks, though that was mainly the only one she could do. A small smile played along her lips as her eyes fell upon Teddy once more. His gaze was intense, almost as if his eyes were burning holes in her skin, though it felt like a wave of comfort had washed over her and never in the years that she'd known him had she felt she was being judged when those dark eyes locked onto her. They had been friends for ages, the only one she was really all that close with when it came to peers, and she had always been a bit taken aback by his beauty. Though he was very attractive, it wasn't just his looks that made her wonder. His heart was the most beautiful piece of work she had found in a person and his personality was of a very high calibur as well. He worried incessantly but that was only because he worried about everyone else instead of himself, his ragged look proof of that, and besides, she found it to be adorable. At least she would know he cared, most of the guys she knew wouldn't bother to show any emotion for the girl they supposedly 'loved.' A smirk cracked at the edges of her lips as she took in his presence, bringing the cigarette to her lips and inhaling once more. words! 1013 status! complete tags! teds notes! <3 inspiration! the killers credits! template by arro @ caution! lyrics!
